Day 1
Day 2
Today is one of the most beautiful days of the whole Camino with its alpine meadows and the picturesque forest closing above our heads. After breakfast we start our mountanious ride descending from Roncesvalles 950 m and climb up again to Alto de Mezkiritz (922m) and Erro (801m) over 22 km until we reach Zubiri (500m) with its gothic “Bridge Of Rabies” over the Arga river where we stop for lunch. After lunch we ride 15km to strategically important village of Trinidad de Arre or 2 km more to Burlada where we stop for diner and night.
Day 3
After breakfast we ride for 4,5 km to Pamplona – one of five province capitals on Camino de Santiago, entering the town through medieval Magdalena bridge, passing Cathedral, Portal de Francia and Citadel. From 470m of Pamplona fertile basin we climb 13 km to nearly 800m to Alto del Perdon where not carefull pilgrim may be offered water for exchange of his faith. Be aware of local deamon! Better to ride down for next 4km to Uterga (500m) where we stop for lunch. After lunch we continue descent for 7km to Puente la Reina, emblematic town where the two ways, the Camino from Navarra and Camino from Aragon and we stop for diner and night.
Day 4
After breakfast we start short but steep climb and continue through the hills and bridges to Villatuerta (19 km) where we stop for lunch. After lunch we ride 13km more passing villages stopped in time we arrive to beautifull town of Estella with visable orient influence and numerous monuments. From here we slowly climb up, passing monastery of Irache and the only fountainne in the world that sometimes flows down with wine! We finish the day in Villamayor de Monjardin, lovley village on the top of the hill where we have diner and stay for night.
Day 5
After breakfast we start the day riding through quite open fields between province of Navarra and Rioja where for nearly 20 km we will not cross a village untill Torres del Rio where one of the most remarcable churches of Santo Sepulco is situated and this is where we stop for lunch. After lunch we cross 11km of hills until we reach Viana where we stop for diner and night.
Day 6
After breakfsat we ride for 10km to Logrono – Capital of Rioja and continue through fertile hills and wine plantations for 13 km to reach our lunch spot Navarrete famous for its ceramics and vineyards. After the lunch we just need to beat 17km over the last hill – Alto de San Anton and descend to old capital of Rioja Najera where we stop for diner and night.
Day 7
Today we only ride in the morning. After breakfast we start our 22 km to Santo Domingo de la Calzada, the town of the most important beneficient of Camino in province of Rioja who marked the road, took care of pylgrims, constructed churches, hospitals etc. Here we end our ride allowing horses to rest and taking our time to visit this splendid town.
Here we stop for diner and night.
